AllSaints Spitalfields
My recently favourite place to shop in London.

Their clothes were made to look well worn-in and seem to have that rock-inspired formula with a special distressed shabby chic look. Things in grey, beige, black and battered denim and the Victorian-style boots without laces look like they've just stepped out of a music video.
Their trademark motif is a ram skull which goes well with the interiors of edgy rails and rusty lamps, wooden floors and vintage sewing machines. These days I could easily wear this everywhere. But I really wonder how long it will take before this becomes another boring Zara...

Where Are You, Passport?
'They came to the airport naked. They're like, 'Can I get on the plane? I don't want to show you where my passport is.'

photo from here
I am still waiting for my passport to be returned from the border agency. It's been more than 3 months now. First I couldn't care less, but now the inability to be able to leave the country when I want started to drive me a little crazy...
What can a passport do with an immigration service for the time of 3-6 months?
Well, let's see... here it is - I can imagine it waking up on a shelf one sunny day and travelling to someone's desk... Being looked at, pages turned, shown some ultra violet light maybe, put back on the desk, lifted again, given another look, compared to some creepy looking database, against some blacklists. Then I could imagine it waking up on another exciting day and travelling to some other desk and then maybe - if it's lucky - to even yet another one. But going forward I imagine my poor passport's life would get pretty ...boooring.
- waking up on someone's desk one sunny morning...
- waking up on someone's desk...
- waking up on someone's desk...
- waking up on someone's desk...
- waking up on someone's desk...
... + ∞
But like that for 6 months.....?
Just recently I became a fan of passport jokes and even this.

LA RÊVE - Café De Paris

What I really like about London is that it continuously offers interesting things to do and new experiences.
This time it was my ever first time in a burlesque cabaret - very witty, very vintage and modern at the same time. Crushed velvet, theatrical drapes, chichi crystal chandeliers, the vintage feel of the main space and its balconies - it was unusual to find it all in the French-flavoured Café de Paris in Piccadilly open since 1924. La Rêve show was very good and so was the hot 'Twisted Circus' after party - with resident DJs play mixed with circus performances.
I think from now on I can stop going to musicals in favour of cabarets ;).

Yo! Sushi
I now (officially) know how to make sushi - we've been to a sushi school last weekend :) So no way I will confuse between anago and unagi... or will I? :D
Anyway, my favourite ones to make are uramaki - those with the rice on the ouside. Sushi making is great fun!
You kind of end up stuffed with rice, in the meantime tempted to play with the conveyor belt... and with 5 boxes to carry home to feed all your friends :).

Blåögd

A mix of sun and clouds; faluröd painted houses; watching deer from the window and deer watching you back; heavy skies; magic landscapes; stony lakes and thick fairy-tale forests; birch trees, crisp air; glasshouses and lit windows; the beauty of simple things; soft pronounced 'k's; the blond and the beautiful; the things vivid, almost popping with minimalism; no stuff, no burden, no identity - very reassuring in a way; lagom and how to learn swedish in 1000 difficult lessons ; this is how I remember my first days in Sweden.
Blah

colourless green ideas which sleep furiously; please, another 5 minutes in bed in the morning; Chomsky and Bukowski; 'Eeeee Eee Eeee' and dolphins who befriend hamsters; incredible lightheadedness and cluelessness of mind; ideas which would keep me awake all night - both beautifully mundane and exquisitely troubled; caffeine nap aka 'drzemka kofeinowa'; in need of long tight hugs and so long awaited catch-me-if-you-can holidays, play upon words, shabby chic, neon turquoise jeans and 'do you katsu?' kind of a weekend when time stands still. and it’s absolutely ok.
Спасибо, Мамуля! :)

London Flamenco Festival 2012
La pasión...
El ritmo..
La musica...
No more words are needed to describe it. I could go to see flamenco every week.. But I now need to wait until next year.. :(
Some very good pictures from the event are here - and please don't miss the great video from the concert at the very end!

Hedgehog In The Fog - Ёжик в тумане
A great way to start today's morning was by watching this almost long forgotten cartoon from my childhood.
It's genius in the way it provokes reflection and I'd say is also a little psychedelic. A cartoon for kids? I will leave it to you to judge this, but it used to be frequently aired for kids for almost 20 years after its creation. I think as an adult I can appreciate it much more - as a kid I was even a little scared while watching it. And now it creates this amazingly warm and cosy feeling of everything being just fine and tunes you for some tea with raspberry jam (from samovar) and counting stars...
And now, after reading a bit about it, I've found out it translated into English and even more so that it is considered one of the best animated films of all time. Have a look, tell me what you think.
Milos
I'm always tempted to post about summer holidays in winter.. All these sunny photos remind of the good times and make me more and more hopeful that another vacation is only a couple of weeks away... (keep the fingers crossed...) Here is a glimpse of the Greek islands, Milos in particular, a beautiful volcanic island, not very crowded and strangely enough not that popular among tourists as other islands of The Cyclades range - the fact I really enjoyed.
The island was blessed with all the picturesque views and all the amazing things one can come across here, just a perfect place to give birth to Venus de Milo - in fact, there couldn't be a better place. The warm volcanic sea waters and the hot volcanic sand where the locals can cook their food, the colourful fishing villages, the secluded beaches with access only from the sea, the amazing volcanic ranges of all colours imaginable - and of course the hospitable people.
I will always remember the emerald water of the Aegean seas, the rocky beaches and well hidden caves, the typical bleached houses with doors and window frames painted all the imaginable hues of the sea - blue, aquamarine and turquoise - the colour of Greece..., the beautiful sunsets best watched from Plaka, the old town and the highest point of the island, and of course the little tavernas with a huge variety of tasty Greek food grown in the sun kissed fields and cooked traditionally. And if you went there once - you will come back.. Anyone would.
Every Greek island is different, it is really hard to pick the favourite one. I have still not decided for myself...
