Getting Lost Will Help You Find Yourself

Some bright memories from this winter spent in 'the summer'. Now that I think of it, I really miss the Asian adventures, I think its getting too comfy here at home again ...

SEEING RED

I need to wear something RED tonight. It's is so energetic and beautiful.
It is crisp, it clicks, it is real!

My inspiration board also turned very red. ...I think I'm even into wearing the scarlet lipstick right now.

Minimalistic

My inspiration board turned out somewhat minimalistic this time...

Simplicity is so perfect - nothing distracts you from seeing plain objects and noticing their beauty. And noticing is key here.. To think of it, when we surround ourselves with little unimportant 'nice' things - we stop noticing them at all until they get dusty and we abandon them...

Things... Why do we get so attached to objects? It is time to get tired of the majority of them and stop accumulating more and more of the unnecessary ones. The less of them we possess - the more space we have to live, think and create - the more freedom there is for us.

I have a friend who made a decision to get rid of the things he was not using for more than 6 months and he was quite amazed by the result... There were not many things at all left at the end. I'm wondering if I would ever be able to do something like that.

Lisboa...

Some Lisbon impressions put together on a small cork board - too small to list all the experiences, emotions and things learned and discovered in the beautiful 'cidade branca'... yet BIG enough for memories and warm feelings.

Inspired by China

Continuing yesterday's topic - here is what I came up with right after we got back home from our trip to China:

When I travel I always end up leaving some of the old tickets, maps, brochures, leaflets and cards (It's just impossible to throw them away!)- so it is always easy to put them up together afterwards. The Chinese board turned out to be pretty packed with stuff - like China with people, great places to visit and stay, historical heritage and of course impressions!

Colour Me Pastel

There is a cork board I hung in the hall of my home, where I pin up random things I come across pretty much anywhere because I find them beatiful-funny-weird-old or worth looking at for the second time. One could call it an inspiration board or a mood board. You can see more of them here and here. This one was inspired by my trip to Venice and by pastel colours, which seem to be everywhere this spring!

Colour Theory aside - there are amazingly many beautiful words and expressions for color in English (blush pink, see green, sky blue, canary yellow...) - and I'm very sure this would apply to any other language.. I like them so much I even made a small list of 'color words' and I want to keep 'collecting' them. How do you like dove gray, emerald green, poppy red and peacock blue? Other color words (and colors!) I'm fascinated with at the moment are powder blue and mustard yellow... I think I also came across 'vintagey peach' the other day.. What words for color come to your mind when you read this? Maybe some really great names haven't been even invented yet :)

Inspiration Boards Continued

Today was quite hectic - I was busy with final preparations before the departure to Venice (yay!), which included leaving the pets with our friends (I'm gonna miss them..:(), cleaning up the flat, doing some shopping. I haven't yet had the time to pack, so will have to get up rather early tomorrow - the idea of which I don't quite like. I'll try to post from Venice, it depends on internet availability, but if not I think I'm going to miss blogging a little... Posting a picture of my latest inspiration board I put up not so long ago after we came back from our trip to Paris. This is actually the one I used for this blog's header.

Inspiration Boards

It is curious how one can get inspired by listening, watching, reading or SEEING something beautiful - an original pattern, objects arranged by form and colour or simply something different from anything else seen before. Visual perception seems to be very much connected to our emotional world. Just imagine a collection of all the small things and pictures which recently caught your attention and provoked positive reaction - this is also a good reason why many people blog ;). You can have such a collection always at hand and be able to change and update it according to what you like/feel/are into at the moment. All you need is a cork board and some pins - and you can put together all the things you find so cool and have your very own inspiration board. It is such a simple yet such a joyful thing to do and to have. Here is a photo of my first inspiration board I created about 2 years ago.

And I haven't stopped since then really... It seems like putting together little collections of things which inspire and appeal to me is something which will never get me bored. I will be posting some more snaps of my inspiration boards in the future. Seems like this pastime becomes more and more popular among many people - check out the whole collection of inspiration boards on Flickr and get inspired!
