Those who have never been to The Hermitage, especially the Winter Palace, but wish they had, or would like to go, might find this post interesting because I wanted to share some of the things I saw there. Yes, these are only SOME things :), because the galleries and halls with multiple objects of art and interior design are endless and it's physically impossible to see everything in this enormous museum in one day. However it's worth trying to see some and of course come back the next day and continue your quest.. You may learn many interesting facts from the history of Russia and its monarchs but also from the history of art and design here.

Olga,
The pictures are stunning. After seeing so many beautiful and rich pieces of art it's impossible not to be tented to schedule a trip to San Petersburg. How lucky you are to have been in one of the most, if not THE MOST, famous museum in the world. I guess it’s not possible to see all that in one day, is it? It looks really big and with lots of interesting pieces of History in it. The Golden Chambers are amazing but I can’t help to think about the differences between the richness of the Czars and the poverty of good part of the people. But History is made of these big contrasts. Even today it is still like that in many countries.
Hugs dear Olga

Wow, all that luxury -- so much gold, and so much attention to fine details.
