Salvador Dali's Alice in Wonderland

Dali’s incredible illustrations for Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” (published in 1865) have caused it to become one of the rarest and most sought-after Dali suites. With the original gouaches published by Maecenas Press-Random House, New York in 1969, the Suite now contains 12 heliogravures - one for each chapter of the book - and comes with 1 original signed etching in 4 colors as the frontpiece. This collaboration brings together arguably two of the most creative minds in Western culture, as both are considered ultimate explorers of dreams and imagination.

The originals of these works are open for public in the Espace Dali Museum in Paris, Montmartre - a very unusual and phantasmagoric place to visit, which I really recommend.

Salvador Dali, an eccentric painter. Being close to Spanish fascist Franco, he was a fascist himself!

Hi Diatton. I'm aware of the fact that Dali was a supporter of the authoritarian Franco. I just keep wondering whether his tributes to Franco were sincere or whimsical. After all can you expect something serious from someone like Dali? And to make it even more complicated - can you expect something serious from anyone at all?

Your last question is a very difficult one and it takes a lot of words for someone to answer... Anyway, the most important thing is the very nice communication we have...

Good night for today my friend...

Hey! These are amazing, very haunting paintings! I haven't yet been to the Espace Dali, but I will go next time I'm in Paris... any excuse to head to the Montmartre :)

Yes we got the storm and the wind and rain the other day, it's been so bad recently!

To answer your question... I love Van Gogh! Do you? The man put so much feeling and beauty into his paintings, so tragic but so full of hope. Have you ever read any of the letters he wrote to his brother Theo? Amazing :)

Your blog's cheered me up on a damp Sunday evening. Hope you have a good week! X
