In continuation of our China trip story today's post is devoted to the next stop we made in in Xi'an and about Xiangzimen hostel we stayed in.

It is said that the brother of the Song dynasty Emperor, Zhao Kuang Yin used to reside here in this very building, which has over 200 years of history, and for this reason has been especially preserved in Ming dynasty style by the Xi'an government. It is the only building of its type in the whole of northwest China, and is divided into two main parts: the front 'siheyuan' with it's open-air courtyards and exquisite masonry, and the back with wooden panelling recreated in traditional ancient style.

The charming atmosphere, great traditional interior designs and friendly staff will instantly make you feel at home.

What an AMAZING building! It is so wonderful that a building like that is kept up and accessible to stay in! My uncle and aunt (in their 60s) have just finished a tour of Scotland, staying in Youth Hostels, among other places. They found the experience wonderful - hostels really are great, around the world!
Stunning! How fortunate you are to be so well traveled! I've never stayed in a hostel before. I think the closest I ever came was when I stayed at a B&B used just for college students on Martha's Vineyard ~ and that was only an hour from where I lived! lol
What an amazing place, and beautiful pictures too.
Thank you for your lovely comment; sorry it’s taken me so long too visit you, I have been so busy I have not been on the computer.
Have a lovely day…love Lou xxx
Nice pics from China, for another time! Pics that challenge everyone to visit that country.
For tomorrow i have planned a post with almost the same topic. "Chinese people like to learn the Greek language"...
Hi Olga,
I've been looking these pictures and the hostel looks so cosy and nice. You know I'm a big fun of small places and I see we are very much alike regarding this beautiful places. When I'll post about Marocco I'm planning to show the house where we stayed in Marrakech. It was from the 18th century only with 5 rooms, with an arabic classic decoration, always with quiet music and... romantic enough as we like. Truly peacefull. If you and Arek ever go there I'm sure you will love it as we did. A strong hug, TI
Wow. It's hard to believe that these images are real, and not something out from a fictional movie set. I'm envious you've managed to experience and see such traditional artefacts in real life.
It seems that the topic of China is quite popular among you guys :) This is great, I could post about China every day even to the extent of getting you bored! :)
TI, I'm so glad you had such a great time in Morocco. I'm really curious about it, I wanted to visit Fes ever since I've learned about it. My association with Morocco are huge colourful tanneries, henna tattoos, spice markets and of course Arabic design patterns and typical architecture...
Sorry,you come from Belarus.Really!!
And your inspiration and aspirations are very nice.I'll be back again.
